A Dreamy Honeymoon in the Maldives and Dubai

The Ultimate Romantic Getaway

The Maldives and Dubai are two top destinations for the perfect honeymoon. They need little explanation of why. Both offer unique experiences—one with beaches and tranquil vibes, the other with lavish luxury, and modern wonders. Combining the two in a single honeymoon created a blend of relaxation and adventure.

In this blog, I’ll take you through the magic of our honeymoon. We visited these two iconic locations. I’ll share how we spent our time!

Combining the Best of Both Worlds: The Honeymoon Itinerary

To experience the best of both the Maldives and Dubai, we split our honeymoon itinerary. Here’s how we planned it:

Day 1–4: Maldives

  • Arrival in the Maldives: After arriving in Malé (the capital), our resort offered a speedboat to transfer to/from.
  • Day 1–2: Settle into our overwater villa. Spent the days relaxing on the beach, the resort pool, and indulging with our all inclusive plus package.
  • Day 3: Enjoy a couple’s spa treatment at the resort, followed by a sunset cruise.
  • Day 4: Check out, and take the speedboat back to Male.

Recommendations:
Lodging: Meeru Island Resort
Room Category: Jacuzzi Water Villa with All Inclusive Plus Meal Plan

Day 5–9: Dubai

  • Arrival in Dubai: We flew from the Maldives to Dubai (around 4 hours) and checked into the Sofitel Dubai Downtown. The hotel was conveniently located next to Dubai Mall and the iconic Burj Khalifa. We had an early morning the next day. We decided to visit the Dubai Mall to explore a bit before heading to bed.
  • Day 5: Booked an day excursion via Viator; Red Dunes Quad Bike, Sandsurf, Camels & BBQ at Al Khayma Camp
  • Day 6: Headed to the Burj Khalifa, we purchased tickets for the observation deck and later enjoyed lunch. Afterward, we returned to the hotel to relax before dinner. We had dinner reservation with a view of the spectacular water show.
  • Day 7: We spent the day at Atlantis Waterpark with the Aquaventure Super Pass. After leaving the waterpark, we explored The Lost Chambers Aquarium at Atlantis. Later, we visited the Marina to ride the world’s tallest observation wheel, Ain Dubai.
  • Day 8: Qatar Airways provided us with a complimentary one-day ticket to EXPO 2020 Dubai. We arrived unsure of what to expect. We were blown away by the incredible exhibits showcasing countries from around the world. A highlight for us was stopping at the Colombia and Japan pavilions to enjoy delicious food.
  • Day 9: Before checking out, we indulged in one final breakfast at the hotel. It remains our favorite hotel breakfast to date.

The Best Time to Visit:

  • Maldives: The best time to visit the Maldives is from November to April, when the weather is dry and sunny. Avoid the monsoon season (May to October) if you want to guarantee perfect beach weather.
  • Dubai: The ideal time to visit Dubai is from November to March. The weather is warm but not excessively hot, making it perfect for outdoor adventures and sightseeing.
  • Our wedding was in September, but we decided to wait until November for the best timing. Throughout the year, we took a lot of time off for our bridal celebrations, so we planned it for our Thanksgiving break to use PTO and holiday pay.

Final Thoughts: A Honeymoon to Remember

A honeymoon in the Maldives and Dubai offered the best of both worlds. You could lounge in an overwater villa. You might explore the streets of Dubai. Either way both these destinations provide endless opportunities to make unforgettable memories. Also check out my Pinterest for photos!
